SETTING BACKGROUND
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is set on the magical planet of Etheria, at some undefined time. It's unclear if Earth even exists or not; regardless, Etheria is cut off from the rest of the universe in its own little pocket dimension and is inhabited by all kinds of magical creatures and people. There's also the evil Horde, led by Hordak, who is trying to conquer the rest of the planet for his nefarious purposes. He's opposed by the Princess Alliance/Rebellion, which (as the name implies) is an alliance of princesses and their various peoples fighting back against the Horde's attempt to conquer them. Adora stumbles over the magical Sword of Protection and uses its power to become She-Ra, guardian of Etheria, and help the princesses fight the Horde. Along the way she starts to uncover some unpleasant truths...

HISTORY
Contains She-Ra spoilers through end of S4.
-Roughly eighteen years before the "present day", Adora is brought to Etheria via a portal opened by Hordak (who was attempting to use said portal to leave/escape Etheria). She is adopted into the Horde by Shadow Weaver, one of Hordak's henchpeople.
-While growing up in the Horde, she is taught that the Horde are the good guys and the Princess Alliance is full of evil, powerful princesses and that she will eventually be deployed to fight them.
-As a small child she becomes friends with Catra, another child soldier/trainee, and they look out for one another. Unfortunately, Shadow Weaver does not care for Catra in the least and uses her to keep Adora in line via abuse. Adora is the "golden child" while Catra takes the blame for everything. Adora is made responsible for Catra - all punishment falls on Catra and Adora becomes increasingly protective of her as a result.
-Adora passes through training and is eventually made (provisionally) a Force Captain and is expected to take the fight to the Princess Alliance soon. However, before she can, she stumbles on a strange sword in the woods - the Sword of Protection - as well as meeting two members of the Alliance (Princess Glimmer of Brightmoon and Bow). She is able to use the sword to become She-Ra, protector of Etheria.
-She learns that the Horde has been lying to her for her entire life and that they're a force of evil and destruction. She decides to take up the mantle of She-Ra and help defeat the Horde. She tries to convince Catra to come with her, but Catra refuses and the two end up on diverging paths.
-Adora officially joins the Princess Alliance and learns how to use the sword and be an effective She-Ra; during this time she also helps rebuild the Princess Alliance and stumbles upon an old First One hologram called Light Hope, who tries to convince her of her destiny and assist in her training. She eventually defeats an attack on Brightmoon led by Catra and the two become further estranged.
-Adora continues to work against the Horde while learning more about She-Ra, the First Ones, and Etheria. She and her friends are in and out of trouble. Her old mother figure, Shadow Weaver, defects after running afoul of Hordak too many times.
-Adora journeys to the Crimson Wastes (an inhospitable desert), searching for the source of a message from an older She-Ra - Mara. She discovers the message in Mara's crashed shop and learns that Mara used the Sword of Protection and her power to seal Etheria away in a pocket dimension. She is captured by Catra shortly afterward.
-Adora is taken back to the Fright Zone as a prisoner and Catra, disregarding all advice and warnings, attempts to open a portal to the outside universe. It triggers a massive reaction and flings everyone into an alternate reality that is quickly breaking down. While there, Adora fights Catra and meets with Angella, Glimmer's mother, who sacrifices herself to end the reaction and return Etheria to normal.
-The war against the Horde continues. Adora retrieves Mara's crashed ship from the Crimson Wastes and the Alliance is tangled up by Catra's newest hire, a spy by the name of Double Trouble. Adora learns that She-Ra, far from being a mythical protector, is actually the key to Etheria. The whole planet was turned into a weapon by the First Ones and can only be activated using the Sword of Protection and She-Ra.
-Adora refuses to go along with Light Hope's attempts to reactivate the weapon and end up shattering the Sword of Protection, apparently destroying her own source of power. At the same time, Glimmer has taken the fight to the Horde and has been captured by Horde Prime - Hordak's original overlord, who has arrived seeking him, along with a massive fleet.
-End of Season 4.

PERSONALITY
-Empathetic/Caring: whether or not it was intended, Adora has grown up with an incredible sense of empathy and caring about others. She wants to take care of other people and wants to help them with their problems, even if it means going out of her way to do so. Unfortunately for her, this aspect of her personality was previously used to control her during her time in the Fright Zone and as a result, she tends to take the weight of the world (and of others) on her shoulders. She has to be the problem solver because no one else can. She needs to make sure things happen, because if she doesn't, other people get hurt. She also has a tendency to suborn her own interests and health in favor of prioritizing other people, even if it means she gets hurt (emotionally or physically). It's a double-edged sword. Part of this is because Adora thinks that everything she does is bad or wrong in some small way - focusing on fixing her own perceived mistakes for the betterment of others is a way in which she copes.
-Overthinker: Adora has a tendency to overthink (especially when it comes to Catra). She was raised to be an officer in the Horde and while this has made her excellent at planning and leading, this has combined with her own desire to not see people get hurt into a tendency to second-guess herself, her plans, and the actions she should take, especially if she has time to just sit around and think. She's better in the heat of the moment, but planning sessions with her tend to stretch on and she will try to come up with a contingency for everything. Even if those contingencies don't necessarily work out.
-Leader/Go-Getter: both by inclination and by training, Adora is a leader. She's a natural, take-charge type, who is willing to get out and go to get something done. She'll work hard at anything she puts her mind to and isn't easily daunted by the idea of hard work or getting her hands dirty. She's willing to go out and get things done. On the other hand, this means that she has a tendency to talk over others or simply step on other peoples metaphorical toes, since she tends to default herself to a leadership position (or at least try to point the right way and 'take charge' in the moment) and this will likely cause (and has caused) friction between her and her friends in the past.
-Stubborn/Strong-Willed: Adora has a great deal of willpower; she simply refuses to give up and will fight through pain and other entrapments to make something happen. She's ahrd to stop once she sets her mind on something. Unfortunately, this also means that once she's set on a course of action it can be difficult to persuade her otherwise or even get her to slow down for a moment to try and figure out something else.

CANON POWERS
This section contains She-Ra spoilers.
Previously, Adora had the ability to use a magical sword to transform into the Princess She-Ra, which granted her several feet of height and quite a bit of super strength, agility, and toughness. She could also transform the sword into various weapons and objects as needed, as well as use the power of the sword to heal people if necessary and tune into various First Ones technology on Etheria. Unfortunately it turns out that this was partially to make it so she could be used as the key to the planet and turn it into a giant planet-destroying super-weapon. Woops.
She has since shattered the sword and no longer has those powers.
HOWEVER, as it turns out the real power was inside Adora all along - and so she should be able to tap into them again in the future, with enough concentration and suitable motivation. She just needs to figure that out. However, without the sword, her powers are a bit limited by her emotional state - they quite literally seem to be fueled by her love for her friends. These new and improved powers include:
-The capability to turn into She-Ra (again), with a new outfit; this makes her about seven-eight feet tall, muscled, possesses enough strength to casually lift and throw tanks around, makes her extremely resistant to damage and injury.
-When she reverts from being She-Ra, she seems to heal most of/any of the injuries she sustained while She-Ra.
-She can now summon a sword from herself; this sword is magical as hell, but it mostly just seems to be able to cut things and be a sword. She can also turn it into a shield.
-She can heal people; it's unclear whether this temporarily drains her power based on how severely injured the other person is or not. The one instance we see of this is when she brings Catra back from near-death (or maybe death-death) and she reverts to being Adora once it's finished.
-The ability to survive in the vacuum of space without a suit and apparently get space wind to dramatically ruffle her clothing.
POWER SELECTION
Canon Powers:
-Transformation into She-Ra - I'd like this to be fairly on-call, but doing it too often or too long will probably drain her (more that a couple times a day). Additionally, a compromised emotional state will make this more difficult to maintain. This can also be affected by her being sick, infected, or otherwise weakened. She's still resistant to damage and has increased stamina, speed, strength, etc, but lifting something like a tank probably takes a supreme effort instead of it just being something she does casually.
-Self-Heal When Reverting From She-Ra: Affect is lessened; it will handle the smaller stuff OK, but bigger injuries like broken legs, serious stab wounds, etc, will at most be partially stabilized and she'll still require actual medical treatment.
-Sword Summon: This doesn't seem like it needs to be suuuper nerfed, since it's basically a sword and it's only around when she's She-Ra.
-Healing others: even relatively 'mundane' healing will take it out of her and force her to revert back to regular old Adora. Something like bringing someone back from near death is almost impossible, but can be done with a supreme effort that'll likely knock Adora out for at least a few hours afterward.
-Space: Gone entirely. Except for space wind. She still has space wind for dramatic pauses.
ABILITIES
Adora has a variety of skills and abilities developed over her lifetime.
-She is an accomplished tactical leader and thinker and has trained since she was relatively young to lead troops into combat. She can think outside of the box and come up with unorthodox solutions.
-Adora is in excellent physical shape; she's not super-human, but she has good endurance, strength, and agility.
-Adora knows how to fight with her bare hands and a variety of other hand-to-hand and ranged weapons.
SETTING/SUITABILITY
Please answer all of the following. Keep in mind that if a character is not suited to a stressful intrigue and action setting, or if a character is aged 11-15, you will have to work extra hard to justify how they can function in the game as an equal (or learn how to quickly).
➤ How do you expect your character to respond to the setting? Even if they plan to rebel in the long term, will they be able to at least obey enough to not get shocked to death?
Adora is going to be very much reminded of the Fright Zone and her childhood, especially with individual and collective punishment and the bland reassurance that they're doing the right thing, really. She's been in this situation before and even though it rankles, she's not foolish enough to try and break her way out immediately or toss it all away - especially if that would mean leaving other people to get hurt in her stead. She'll wait it out, see what happens, and take her chances later. But she will want to take it all down from the inside eventually.
➤ What do you hope to do with your character long-term?
I'd like Adora to maybe deal with some of her own trauma, although considering the setting, that might not work out. She does need to learn that she can't be responsible for everyone and finding some new friends will probably help stabilize her in the long run, too. Having her move into a semi-leadership/assistant role would be nice, as well as having her mature a little more. She's a child soldier and working through that baggage as a part of her arc is something I'd like to hit on.
➤ Does your character currently have skills that would allow them to adapt, survive, and do the heroic things being asked of them? If your character doesn't, do you think they'd have the capacity to learn quickly?
Yes! She's a trained soldier, even if she's a young one, and has spent time as basically a super-hero of sorts. She's resourceful, physically fit, and thinks well on her feet. She can cope and thrive, even if she doesn't have the power that she used to as She-Ra. She's also got oodles of willpower and stubbornness that'll help her get through tough times.
➤ If they're not used to cooperating with others, what makes you think they'll be able to adapt to cooperating with the group?
Adora is already willing to cooperate with others, although she may butt heads over leadership and planning. I think she'll manage this fine (albeit with some friction, especially if she's working with less morally conscious characters).
➤ Will your character have long-term plans to rebel against Jorgmund? If so, how? Will they betray the other PCs and cooperate with Jorgmund? If so, how do you plan to handle the negative CR that might arise?
Adora absolutely has plans to rebel in the long-run. She already busted out of one freaky bad-guy zone and she'll do it again - although this time, she's probably going to have to be much more careful about it. She would like to get more information; any plan of hers is going to revolve around disabling or nullifying the implanted shock collars. Once that's handled, she's mostly going to "wing it" and try to smash things up.
She just has to get to that point.
She likely won't knowingly or consciously betray any of the other PCs, although if it comes down to it she'll probably feel bad about fighting other people who have been dragooned into this whole thing - but she'll still do it. She's always willing to reconcile, if possible. At least most of the time.

They'll be made to answer any (5) of the following questions of your choosing:
- If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring?
[ Adora considers this for a long moment before launching into her answer. It's not really a conventional one. ]
Things or people? Because if I was going to be stuck on an island, I'd definitely bring Mermista, because she can swim and probably catch fish. Oh, and Bow, because he has a bow. And also Glimmer, because she can teleport and she can help keep my company.
[ Not really the question, but definitely the answer she gave. ]
- Do you think a leader should be feared or liked?
[ Adora arches a brow. ]
Liked. Definitely liked. Everyone was afraid of Hordak, but that didn't make him a good leader. Angella- [ Adora winces. ]
Angella was a good queen. And so's Glimmer! But - they don't try to make people fear them to get what they want and that means people want to listen. If everyone is only following you because they're afraid, what happens when they stop being afraid?
- What's your biggest personal flaw?
[ Adora frowns. She doesn't like this question at all. It's not one she wants to answer, least of all to some impersonal interviewer from a weird group of kidnappers. Her body language tightens up and she draws into herself a little. ]
My biggest personal flaw? I don't know. I guess - I'm not good enough? Everything I do always has something wrong iwth it and if I'm not fast enough or strong enough, my friends get hurt. So I'm never good enough. I can't... I can't protect everyone. Ever.
[ Which is half-true, but it's really from her perspective, isn't it? ]
- You’re on your way to your best friend’s wedding and your boss calls and says a client needs something, what do you do?
[ Adora scoffs. ]
I mean, I tell them that the client is going to have to wait. It's my best friend's wedding. I can't miss that! I'm... probably backing them up or something, you know? And presumably my boss knows I'm busy.
[ Although... ]
Although maybe I'd call the client myself. Just to explain. So they didn't... worry. Yeah. I'd probably do that. [ She has to do everything herself. ]
- Success, integrity, or friendship, pick two and explain why?
Friendship. [ Adora answers without hesitation. ]
Friendship is everything. I could never have made it as far as I have without my friends - or done any of the things I've done! And you can't go it alone, ever. Well, you can, but it usually ends badly...
[ She has to actually pause and think about the second one, her brow is furrowed. ]
Wow, this one's harder than I thought... I guess integrity. Success... success is great, but if you win without integrity, without feeling good about your own win, is it really a success? Can you even call it a win if the guilt eats you up inside?
[ Not like she's talking from personal experience or anything, hahaha. ]
So, yeah. Friendship and integrity. Can I go now-?

FINAL QUESTIONS
The players won't know what the mods are doing with these questions until sometime later.
➤ Will your character suspect some kind of guiding intelligence has brought them to the game? Or will they think it was random or done by Jorgmund?
Adora will probably think it was done deliberately by Jorgmund. Her experience with portals tells her that it's usually a person, not an act of the fate or something.
➤ If they think it was something other than Jorgmund, like God or some other force of fate, what character traits do they think of that intelligence as having? Is it cruel or kind? Capriciously punishing them or doing it for good reason?

ADDITIONAL INFO
Any additional info you think it's important to include. You can use this space to ask the mods if certain weapons, gear, belongings, or animal companions can be brought into the game with the character.
